THE TRAILER GUYS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (F.A.Q)

  • Can I order a custom color trailer?
    • We can often special order a trailer in your preferred color for an additional fee, though this depends on the brand and dealer. Each brand typically offers standard colors at no extra cost. Ask us about the color options for the trailer you’re interested in, and we’ll take care of the rest!
  • Will my vehicle be able to pull the trailer I am wanting?
    • Every vehicle has a unique tow capacity, so it’s important to check your owner’s manual for specific towing specifications. If you’re unsure, feel free to give us a call—we’re here to help!
  • What is the deck height?
    • Trailer deck heights vary widely depending on the manufacturer and type. The deck height is the distance from the trailer bed to the ground. A lower deck height makes loading and unloading much easier.
  • How/where do I get insurance for my trailer?
    • When you purchase a trailer, we recommend adding it to your tow vehicle’s insurance policy. Coverage is often automatic, but it’s essential to confirm with your insurance agency whether the trailer and its contents are covered while being towed. Additionally, check your homeowner’s or business policy for coverage if the trailer is stored away from your vehicle. Ensure you have protection in case the trailer is damaged or stolen while not connected to your tow vehicle.
  • Do all trailers come with ramps?
    • Ramps are typically considered an optional feature on trailers. The trailer you’re interested in may already include ramps in its sale price. If not, feel free to ask your local trailer retailer about available add-on ramps for your trailer.
  • What trailers do you offer financing for?
    • Most of our trailers are eligible for financing! To learn more about your options or to apply, visit our main page or give us a call!
  • What is the difference between channel frame trailers and I-beam frame trailers?
    • I-beam trailers are designed for superior strength and structural rigidity, making them ideal for hauling heavier loads like skid steers and mini excavators. On the other hand, channel frame trailers are lighter and can accommodate a slightly higher payload capacity, making them suitable for transporting cars and trucks. The channel frame is optimized for a lighter empty weight, allowing you to carry heavier loads. However, it may require additional features like stabilizer jacks to prevent bending, and it does not handle overloading as well as I-beam trailers.
